I engaged the services of Ross Newby (Architecture in touch) to conceptualise, design and draw up house plans to building consent / environmental consent. Ross was required to implement many intricate design elements to satisfy both our aesthetic and budgetary requirements and those of the local Council.
From the very beginning of the project Ross was a revelation. He was very clear with how the process of “planning a house” needed to be approached, how to keep budget and time restraints in check and most of all how to bring a sense of “project completion into the minds of my wife and myself with his positive approach.
Ross did so much work “behind the scenes” that I am sure to this very day that he did not charge us enough, but this is testament to his reliability, conscientiousness and professional approach.
In short Ross completed a beautiful and detailed set of building plans which were approved by Council in 6 weeks after submitting them. Environmental plans naturally took much longer given out location in a bush living environment, but Ross worked tirelessly with ourselves, our neighbours and the Council to have these approved.
If there was a single phrase I would use to sum up Ross’s approach it is “client focused. He was very committed to ensuring we got the best attention, service and appropriate solution. We sensed this in Ross and built trust and a working relationship very quickly.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ross as a very capable professional. I am also happy to give a verbal reference for any interested parties via Ross.

I have known Ross Newby for around twenty five years, Ross has designed and drawn many houses for me in that time beginning in 1987 when he designed my first large Architecturally designed house in Greenhithe, to the present day designing a house for me in Waipu.
In the time I have known Ross he has always displayed a professional, friendly and willingness to achieve high standards that I personally require. I have found Ross to have the ability in his calculus and methodology in solving difficult details and a practical approach to minimise potential problems on site, combined with understanding and communicative skills when dealing with building authorities and Council’s. I have also recommended Ross to many of my associates, family and friends where he has displayed and achieved high standards also.
Concluding, had I found any other Architectural Designer better I would be engaging them to do my work.
